Hasta La 'Vista' Windows XP Microsoft Prepares for Windows Re-Release
Microsoft (MSFT) plans on making a big boom with it's new release of Windows Vista--formerly codename Long Horn. Microsoft also plans to release Office 12 which Gates claims will be the greatest upgrade since Office 95. Redmond, Washington-based Microsoft believes in the new releases so much, they're spending over $100,000 in helping developers create software for the new operating system. It's such a shame, I figured that Longhorn would have been a much better name than Vista. And then the WinFS system, which was 'supposed' to be the whole point of Longhorn won't be out in time. D'oh.
I wonder if windows is going to ressurect clippie, maybe they could have a cool Start>Accessories>Games>Kill Clippie Game?
Longhorn has been "anticipated" so long that I forgot it was an ongoing project. There were several articles over the past few years that talked about the negative impact the development of the new OS has had on morale of developers at Microsoft. Hopefully 3rd party developers will be able to take advantage of some of the new features instead of "retrofitting" current builds...we'll have to wait and see I suppose.
